Read, White, and Blue: Atkins Library’s first monthly display is in celebration of America’s Independence Day. The books in this display, located on the first floor in the popular reading area, are more than just history books. Did you know that John F. Kennedy, before he was president, wrote a book about eight American patriots (Profiles in Courage)? Or that Jimmy Carter wrote a novel about the American Revolution (The Hornets Nest)? Subjects range from historical fiction, biographies of heroes, to patriotic poetry. Come celebrate with us all month long!

As part of Women’s History Month Atkins library would like to encourage you explore The Oxford Encyclopedia of Women in History to learn more about the women who shape our world.

Just before Valentines Day, Atkins set up a table and white boards and asked students to write love or break up notes with the library. Many students participated. Here are the results:  storify.com/DonnaLanclos/love-letters-at-atkins-library-2016

Help us populate the new Popular Reading/Movie section with your favorite titles, genres, or authors. Please share your preferences through this short Google poll: http://goo.gl/forms/ZbEQ66QNr6

Over the winter break, the Atkins staff created a new book section in the library's atrium. We've added a Popular Reading collection (including magazines and newspapers) along with a New Books section. The collections are arranged in a cozy area with comfortable seating near the security office. Also, the Reference collection has been moved to this area from the opposite side of the atrium. Faculty, staff, students, and visitors are welcomed to peruse the collections, now conveniently located on the first floor.
